Too many of us are held back by the belief that we are not creative. This gets in the way of taking risks, trying new things and it cramps our style. In this interactive workshop we’ll use a variety of arts modalities to tap into the innate wisdom, talent, and intuition within each of us. We’ll bust the creativity myth that maintains only a select few special people are creative. We’ll learn how having a creative mindset brings new levels of joy and power into our lives. You’ll come away with lots of tools and techniques for overcoming creative blocks and getting your juices flowing. Most of what you learn you’ll be able to use to bring heart and meaning into parties, family events, or trainings you may run. This workshop will be safe, playful, heart-centered and empowering. No experience with the arts is required, but it’s also useful for practicing artists. Peggy Taylor is co-founder of Create Space. She is a writer, choral director and creativity specialist. She is founder and co-director of the Open Circle Singers Community Choir and co-founder of three arts-based youth programs: Power of Hope: Youth Empowerment through the Arts, Partners for Youth Empowerment, and Young Women Empowered. Peggy has trained several thousand social service workers in ten countries in ways to use the arts to increase confidence in their creativity and to bring cohesion, joy, and purpose into work with youth and adult groups. Cost is $40 for the 4-class series. To pay by credit card, you can click ‘Add to Cart’ on the registration page or use the ‘Donate’ button on our website. Or you can put cash or a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) in the payment jar in our classroom. If you are unable to afford the full fee, please pay as you are able. Your payments ensure the future of Create Space.
