Garry Oak Gallery Artist of the Month: Jackie Hansen

January 1 @ 10:30 am - January 31 @ 5:00 pm

Jackie Hansen moved to Whidbey Island from Alaska in 2020. Her fiber friends know her as Jackrabbit Felts. She bought her first bag of wool roving from the Uncommon Friends Sale in Coupeville and is self taught. She is a member of the Whidbey Weavers Guild and learned how to spin wool. She tries to source her spinning wool from local PNW farms as she is passionate about supporting American farms. She likes wool as a fabric that is recyclable and can be used as mulch in the garden. She can always reuse the wool fibers if she is unhappy with something she made. She believes wool is eco-friendly and is wearable. She is hoping more people will find the art of felting as exciting as she has and love it just as much
