Trio Rasa & the RASA 5 are pleased to announce their first chamber Music festival at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts: Chamber Music on the Rock will bring you the yummiest chamber music over two weekends…
The first weekend program (June 23-24-25) is Mixed Metaphor, with the intense AND tender piano trio by Germaine Tailleferre and an ethereal trio entitled “Tibetan Tunes” by contemporary composer Chen Yi. Then Trio Rasa becomes RASA 4 for Frank Bridge’s lovely Phantasy for piano quartet, and then RASA 5 for Alexander Borodin’s lively and imaginative piano quintet. There will also be a violin/piano duo by Igor Stravinsky, embodied in dance by members of the Meander Dance Collective.
Our second weekend of this two-week series (June 30-July1-2) is All Dvorak, All the Time with his much-beloved Dumky Trio performed by Trio Rasa, followed post-intermission by his brilliant Piano Quintet in A, Opus 81 performed by the full RASA 5.
Friday night performances will be at a private salon in Oak Harbor; seating is limited and tickets are by donation at the door. (E-mail sweidendorf@whidbey.com to attend the Friday night concerts). Saturday performances both weeks will be at 7:30, and the Sunday matinees are at 2:00 at WICA; tickets for Sat-Sun concerts available on WICA’s website.
