Fiona Duthie- Fibre + Paper + Ink:Illuminated
June 11 @ 9:00 am - June 12 @ 4:00 pm| $505
Fibre + paper + ink together produce a unique and inspiring marked textile that illuminates more beautifully than any other combination. Paper adds unique textural and sculptural qualities to the felt, which we emphasize with bold ink work added to our final felt forms. In this class we cover resist work, paper selection and sources, ink for felt design, and the manipulation of form. Our main project will be a cylindrical table lamp. We’ll also explore a small sculptural lighting project. We will look at techniques to produce a structural but translucent felt, surface manipulation, aesthetic composition, layering, seamless felt making, creating custom resists, refined felt making to achieve exacting end results. Ink work on felt for illumination. Lighting hardware- sources, bases and construction will all be covered during the course. For beginning to intermediate
