A new anthology of monologues, written by Scott Kaiser and directed by Erin Murray. This timely story weaves together an anthology of 36 new monologues, written in iambic pentameter, in Shakespeare’s vernacular, set in a historical moment upon the completion of Shakespeare’s First Folio of collected works. Shakespeare’s Other Women explores the female experience that exists beneath the surface of Shakespeare’s works, acknowledging the repression of female voices throughout history. Island Shakespeare Festival produced the professional premiere of Shakespeare’s Other Women in January of 2018, and brings it back to the stage this February due to popular demand and the continued resonance of bringing female-identifying stories and voices to the forefront.
“I think of it as a diamond, which usually has 32 facets, in this case it’s 36–and each facet is a different way of looking into the same gem.”
“I can testify, it was truly an extraordinarily powerful experience…”
“…Stunning performance by our very own extraordinary Island Shakespeare company. Amazing as they are – they’ve really outdone themselves with this one.”
