This book form was taught by Chanel Ly in the 2024 Sketchbook Revival classes and has been modified by Claudia so that no glue is necessary for the spine to be secure. This book can be made with watercolor or mixed media paper to be used with wet media or it can be made with lighter weight paper and used as a journal. Materials List: Paper For a journaling book with pages that are 6” wide and 9” high, Claudia used 6 sheets of 18×24” sulphate paper (120 lb paper). To make a book with watercolor or mix media paper you will use only 2 or 3 sheets of paper per signature with a total of 6 signatures. Covers 3 sheets of decorative card stock weight paper (think heavy weight scrapbooking paper) the same size, or slightly larger than your signatures. Claudia used three 12”x12” sheets of paper. She makes books for gifts and she makes books to fill with her art making. She uses watercolor papers, book board and book cloth for some journals and recycled boxes and cardboard for others. Filling books with painting, calligraphy, quotes and memorys is how she documents her life.
