Oil Painting Portraiture – Painting from The Live Model

In this workshop Teresa will demonstrate and teach her approach to painting the humanist portrait in oils. We will be painting the live model in costume and surrounded by still life and florals. Teresa’s approach utilizes classical methods of the Baroque and nineteenth century blended with a modern understanding of color, brushwork and aesthetics. Emphasis will be placed upon constructing a proportionate head using anatomy, value and color and brushwork to create various edge/blending effects. Drawing with be done with the brush. Materials and Methods will be discussed and used hands on.

We will have in class one sustained long pose. Teresa will be demonstrating on numerous days using the same canvas and creating layers and texture.  Glazing and Impasto techniques will be used
