Suggested donation for classes: $5 to $10 cash donation per class day if you able.
Donations go to our future teacher fund so that we can continue
to run classes after our current grant runs out.

For covid safety, we require wearing masks at Create Space.

We are located in the Spencer Building at the South Whidbey Community Center (former Langley Middle School). 723 Cascade Ave., Langley. Look for the large mural of two children holding a flower. We are in the building just to the right of the mural. Look for our bright blue door. We are directly behind the Island Dance School.

WRITING TOGETHER: BEGINNINGS AND BEYOND
With Deborah Nedelman
Mondays 10 am to 12 noon
January 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 20, 27, 2023

Something magical happens when we write in the company of others and when we feel safe enough to read our raw, unedited work aloud. Come join us in creating magic with your words!Using the Amherst Writers and Artists Method (AWA), developed by poet Pat Schneider, Deborah fosters an environment of safety, support, and stimulation that will encourage and nurture the writer within you. In this workshop the first hour will be devoted to writing new pieces in response to prompts designed to trigger your creativity. During the second hour we will work on developing pieces from first drafts to completed work. Come prepared to write. You are encouraged to write by hand—pen on paper or in a journal. Laptops are acceptable if necessary.

Deborah Nedelman, PhD, MFA has published fiction, poetry and nonfiction. Her novel, What We Take for Truth, (Adelaide Press, 2019) won the Sarton Award for Historical Fiction and a starred review from Kirkus. Her short fiction and poetry appear in The Concho River Review, Contemporary World Literature, Persimmon Tree, Stone Gathering, The Masters Review, and Literary Orphans among others. A teacher of writing for over 20 years, she lives on Whidbey Island where she paints and swims in the Salish Sea.
